Despite the hefty price tag, I would highly recommend that you add Madame Tussauds to your London Itinerary. It’s a great place to have a few hours and have fun with family or friends, and to pretend you are stood next to your favourite A-List celebrities! I visited here in autumn 2012/13 late in the afternoon, so I didn’t have to queue up and it was much quieter as it was only a couple of hours before closing time.

Before getting to the waxworks area, I watched a mini-movie featuring Marvel’s Avengers which goes for around 10 minutes and is a great way to start off the experience. I won’t tell you what happens in the show as I don’t want to ruin the surprise, but it is really cool!
A number of the wax figures are so realistic that they are borderline scary. I did believe some of them were going to spring to life! The A-Lister section is where you will start your journey, featuring household names like George Clooney and Helen Mirren – who was so realistic! Morgan Freeman was a very good likeness too, but I must admit, after visiting Madame Tussauds in New York’s Times Square, the big apple Morgan is still a far better resemblance. The Twilight films were hugely popular during this time, so there was a bit of a free-for-all just to get your photo taken with Robert Pattinson!
There is a fun Sports Section too, featuring renowned British sportsmen and women like David Beckham and Jessica Ennis-Hill. Still, you will also find international sports celebs as well, like Tiger Woods and Hussain Bolt stood in his famous pose.
My favourite section hands down was the Politician’s area. Here you’ll be able to pose in front of a fake No. 10 Downing Street (home of British Prime Ministers) as well as famous royal and political figures from history, such as Adolf Hitler, Henry VIII and Winston Churchill. Interestingly, Churchill was placed next to his arch-nemesis Hitler, so obviously, I did the obligatory pose of sticking my finger up the dictator’s nose.
There are some poor imitations though… The Beatles! Oh dear, they were not good at all. Aside from a somewhat passable looking Paul Macartney, John, Paul, and Ringo were poor likenesses, so much so that they were bordering on the funny side. Also, I wasn’t very
impressed with Liza Maneli or Posh Spice, but these were the only real let downs. There were other musicians and artists like Rhianna, Lady Gaga and the late Amy Winehouse, who were fantastic.
To finish off the experience, you sit on a ride which takes you on a journey of London’s history over the past 400 years, featuring iconic events such as The Great Fire of London, the building of St. Paul’s Cathedral and World War II. It was very well done and an excellent end to a wonderful day. Considering this is about as close as most folks will ever get to these celebrities, it really is a fun experience
