It’s the most wonderful time of the year… wait, that’s Christmas, sorry! Although I absolutely love the holidays, with the special treats, cheesy songs and family get-togethers, I especially loved the boxing day sales! But over the last few years, I’ve found that they are just not as good as they used to be. In fact, in some cases, you’ll find a store might only give you a begrudging few dollars off the retail price and then turn around and call it a “sale!” Talk about Baa Humbug, am I right? Nowadays, I definitely look forward to the Black Friday & Cyber Monday sales more, with their huge discounts and great offers, the likes of which the Boxing Day sales do not even compare!

These two events have only been on my radar ever since my husband first introduced me to it around 7-8 years ago. He’s a huge gamer and would always pick up these fantastic gaming deals for silly prices each year on the Black Friday weekend. This prompted me to want to know more about it, and so the following year, my crazy obsession was born.

My Black Friday prep actually starts at the beginning of every new year, when I start saving a little money each week into a non-instant access savings account, which I can’t touch. Then, when Black Friday and Cyber Monday roll around, I have a chunk of cash to buy heaps of awesome Christmas gifts for my family and friends, but also with a bit left over to treat myself.

Black Friday originally started in the USA and falls on the first Friday after Thanksgiving, with retailers offering big discounts to get you to spend your hard-earned cash. It’s also the one day of the year that retailers are expected to turn a profit, moving from the red into the black. Hence the name Black Friday.

So, is Black Friday just another sales holiday? Well, technically, yes, but I think you will potentially see some of the best sales of the year during this event, so take full advantage I say!

Following on from Black Friday, the first Monday after Thanksgiving, you will see the biggest online sales event of the year, known as Cyber Monday. This was another holiday created by retailers in 2005 to encourage people to shop online, as most shop fronts also have an online presence. It is now one of the biggest online shopping days of the year.

Discounts, discounts, and more discounts, my friend! Unless you really love paying full price for everything, that’s your choice. But, say you’ve been looking to book that dream tour to see the Pyramids in Egypt, or you just really want a few nights away with your family and make some lasting memories, with the great deals on offer this weekend, now is a great time to book. You can also get in before Christmas when everything is usually booked up, or the price has been hiked up.

Also, do you have a friend or loved one who’s travel obsessed? Instead of giving them something they don’t want, help them to create memories that last a lifetime by giving them the gift of travel. I’m not talking about booking them a 5 star package holiday, but instead buying them something useful that they can use while traveling, such as a steel water bottle, portable power bank, or even a travel guide to inspire their next trip.

Over the past few years, the travel industry has finally started cashing in on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, too, with some companies offering discounts of up to 35% off! That suddenly makes that dream trip a much more affordable option.

So, over the past two weeks, I’ve been scouring the internet, looking for the best travel-related deals for Black Friday and Cyber Monday weekend, from tours, hotels to travel products. I’ve done all the hard work for you, to save you time and money. Be sure to get in quick, as most of these deals expire on Monday 29th November 2021. So without further ado, here are the deals. Enjoy!

  1. I agree with you that Black Fridays used to be better some time ago. But we can still find good deals nowadays. I was impressed you shared this offer of Swiss-Belhotel International at a 35% discount. I would like to take advantage of this sale price. Thank you very much for pointing us to this! I went to their offer but could not find which payment methods they accept. Do you know if they accept PayPal?

    1. Hi Abel,

Thanks so much for your comment 🙂 I’ve just checked for you and they don’t accept Paypal, but they do accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover Cards or Diners Club. I hope this helps. I’ve just had a click through and the discount is added once you get to the payment page. Let me know if you have any issues. Lindsay.

    1. Thanks Paul. They’re great deals, especially for travelers. I know I’m fed up with the same old gift guides. I thought it would be a good idea to have one just for people like us 🙂 Thanks for reading.

    1. Thanks love! I definitely agree. Experiences over gifts any day. For my birthday last month, my husband took me out for the day to a new town, and it was awesome. It really was the best gift he couldn’t have given me 🙂 Thanks for commenting.

    1. I know there were a few goodies in there, weren’t they? Not to worry. Keep a look out for any Christmas Specials that I’ll be on the lookout for 🙂 Thanks for commenting.
